About the Chobi Rugs
Chobi rugs feature distinct design patterns/motifs with floral composition and tribal characteristics. Common patterns include medallions, rosettes, hooked polygons, diamonds and crosses as well as representations of animals, birds, trees and humans.
These rugs were originally created during the 18th century in the city of Caucus, Azerbaijan. Chobi rugs were not woven by any singular tribe—instead, their origin is steeped in a blend of all regions across the area.
