Sama Rugs draws on years of family experience and a shared appreciation for the craft of rug making.
That foundation began with Samarkand Gallery, established by Arif Sadath and his son Atif Sadath. Their work introduced beautiful rugs to homes across the Mornington Peninsula, building lasting relationships with customers along the way. Abid spent weekends and holidays alongside them, helping at the markets and in the shop.
In 2019, Abid Sadath created Sama Rugs, building on that family experience with his own vision for the brand. Through a dedicated website and a growing online presence, Sama Rugs brought its rug collections to a wider audience.
Abid’s vision was a spacious warehouse filled with beautiful artisan rugs—a place where customers could take their time exploring authentic pieces, with prices that reflected the rugs themselves rather than the overheads of a main-street showroom.
Today, our approach is guided by an appreciation for colour, texture and craftsmanship—and the belief that choosing a rug should feel personal. From characterful handmade pieces to contemporary designs, we help our customers find rugs they will love living with.
