Princess Bukhara is the most sought after rug in Afghanistan. The name relates to the wondrous history Bukhara is known for. Bukhara is a city in Turkestan where the worlds best handicrafts were made.
The Princess Bokhara is now only found in Afghanistan as most of the collections are in local houses and villages who have received these rugs through their ancestors. Samarugs can proudly confirm that this is an Authentic Handmade Bukhara from over 60 years ago. This was collected in Panjshir Valley by Samarugs.
Princess Bukhara uses silk like wool, from the neck and ankle area of the sheep. The sheep reside in mountainous cold areas which ensures soft wool with sheen of silk. The knotting is as fine as a silk rug, however the wear and tear is unmatched. Far superior than silk rugs in its service ensuring it will last throughout the family lineage.
Princess Bukhara uses pomegranate and other fruits and vegetable dye, giving it a distinct look.
